The Yorkshire basement started as most do — unfinished, underutilized, and underestimated. The homeowners had a clear vision: every square foot should serve a deliberate purpose, and every space should feel like it belongs in a high-end boutique hotel, not a suburban basement. SilverBullet delivered across six distinct zones, each with its own character and finish palette, all running under a single contract and a single project schedule.
The open lounge anchors the main level — a black painted exposed-joist ceiling with directional recessed lighting, LVP hardwood flooring that flows continuously from zone to zone, and an open floor plan generous enough to host a crowd. The decision to leave the joists exposed was deliberate: pressure-washed, primed, and painted matte black, they create an industrial-modern backdrop that makes the bright walls and warm flooring register immediately. Every fixture placement was planned off the joist layout.
The wet bar is the social anchor of the lounge. Forest green shaker cabinetry runs in an L-configuration, paired with white quartz countertops, a brass undermount faucet, and integrated beverage refrigerator. Brass sconce lighting illuminates a floating solid-wood display shelf lined with glassware. The green cabinetry color was chosen to contrast against the bright walls and warm flooring while visually previewing the rich walnut palette of the library beyond — a thread of warmth that ties the two zones together even across the separation of the corridor.
The library is the design centerpiece of the entire build. Every wall surface is wrapped in walnut-finish paneling. Floor-to-ceiling built-in bookshelves with integrated LED lighting flank a custom arched entertainment wall — a millwork piece that required custom templates, off-site fabrication, and two carpenters for a week to install correctly. Leather recliners, a coffered ceiling with exposed walnut beams, and paired brass sconces complete the room. The brief was a private gentlemen's club. That's exactly what was built.
The full-height glass-panel door connecting the library to the open lounge is one of the most deliberate details in the project. From inside the dark, intimate library you can see the bright industrial lounge beyond — two completely different worlds in immediate juxtaposition. The homeowners specified this view corridor early in the design process and SilverBullet built the framing layout around preserving it.
Beyond the library lies the private wing: a home gym with rubber flooring and full-wall mirrors, a Finnish sauna built to spec with cedar interior lining and a code-compliant door seal, and a climate-controlled wine display integrated into the lounge's dining zone. Each room required its own permit amendment — the sauna alone required an electrical subpanel upgrade for the heating element load. SilverBullet managed all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing coordination under one contract, pulling each permit amendment before that phase of work began.
The scheduling challenge on Yorkshire was managing six concurrent scopes without any zone blocking the others. The library millwork — the longest lead-time item — was templated and fabricated off-site while framing and rough-in were running. By the time electrical rough-in passed inspection, the millwork was staged and ready to install. That kind of sequencing only works when a single GC owns the full schedule from first nail to final punch list.
Yorkshire covered full framing and rough-in; black painted exposed-joist ceiling with recessed lighting; LVP hardwood flooring throughout; custom L-shape wet bar with forest green shaker cabinetry, brass hardware, quartz countertops, and beverage refrigerator; walnut-paneled library with floor-to-ceiling built-in bookshelves, arched custom millwork entertainment wall, and coffered walnut-beam ceiling; home gym; Finnish sauna with dedicated electrical subpanel; climate-controlled wine display; and media lounge. All work permitted through the City of Oak Brook.
